Trunk & Rear Clip
Top side photo of the trunk. According to Chris, it was not unusual to find the license box broken as on this one....this was one way you could get into a trunk without a key!
The replacement trunk that I had purchased for the car did not fit as needed and would have required some cutting and fill to both the trunk and body. Chris was able to find me this trunk which was a better fit.
Driver side gap looks good as well - again some slight work needed on the gaps.
Trunk test fit - passenger side has acceptable gaps with some minor work needed.
Photo of the trunk and convertible top lid where they meet the upper body surround. You can see the uneven gaps at the desk lid and the upper surround.
To raise the upper trunk surround requires the removal of a support brace located in the trunk & jack up the surround then add shims under the hinge towers. You can see the new shims that have been placed between the floor of the trunk and the hinges and how the jack was placed to raise the panel.
By raising the upper surround the correct alignment has been obtain, now the original center support has been bonded back into place as done at the factory - the jack and blocking will be removed. This will all be concealed by the cardboard trunk finish panels.
After alignment - Perfect!
